Your journey did not just begin.
This article's catchy title won't be responsible for igniting the combustion and pistons under your spiritual Tesla-hood. Your journey did not magically begin once you received that piece of paper after switching your major three times and jumping from intramural team to intramural team to win that coveted championship t-shirt. Your journey began long before. It even preceded your birth, the same way your legacy will live on after your death.
This Next Part is for You
The year started with you saying you were going to do this and that, and how massive opportunities were destined to come your way. You were going to quit your job and finally become the person you have always dreamt of.
You even told all seven hundred and fifty-six people on Facebook how immense this year was going to be and let the world know through your front facing camera lens.
Months later you are still working that same job, in the same the cubicle, next to the same company loyalist, riding the same bus, going home to the fridge with the same food, to fall asleep in the same bed, to wake up in the same cycle. You are out of momentum, self-belief, and clicks on your MacBook Pro to metaphorically refresh your homepage. You are out of energy and good ideas! You are even out of the energy it takes to steal a good idea. You feel defeated and ready to ask your parents if your childhood bedroom is still the storage room for all the trendy workout gear they never use.
Today is THE day
I’m going to make an outrageous claim. Today is the day you become self-aware –– of the fact you have all the tools to be great sitting inside of you. Today is the day you realize you have that special something to offer the world. A gift so special the IRS can't repose it, nor can you lose it. No matter how forgetful you are after catching up with your good friend who just came back from that dreamy vacation.
Today is the day you make the most important jump in your life.
All jumps are not created equal. Gravity plays a role in how high or far a person can jump. It's only fitting that the person most physically in tune with his or herself can defy the most gravity. It's a game of preparation and endurance.
What are you willing to sacrifice today to make your tomorrow worthwhile?
What shame or hardship will you take on the chin to ensure you leave this earth regret free?
You don't have to answer this question now, that's not important. What's important is you identifying the strongholds in your life. You identifying all of the items, people, and ideas that restrict you from becoming you. Today is the day, you place all eight hundred and thirty-two of those things in a box. A box labeled DESIGN YOUR LIFE, to represent the day you started making the small steps towards happiness. The steps no one on earth knows are important except you. The steps which slowly transform inches into feet, feet into yards, and yards into miles, and the miles into life.
I can guarantee your path will be filled with hesitation, resistance, and fear.
Take the rough times in stride, for they only intensify your appreciation of the good times. The good times will come in unstoppable waves once you make the decision to jump.
If you don't remember anything you just read, please remember one thing: Today is the day, you begin to DESIGN YOUR LIFE!
